If you found out you had a half sibling, would you look for him and try to bond with him?

About 5 years ago my uncle accidently told me and my full siblings that we have a half-sister. We were pretty much unfazed. To this day, we still haven't tried contacting her and she lives within the same city (sort of). Of course, if I happen to randomly meet her, I'll try to bond with her, but honestly... I wouldn't go out of my way to "make up for last time" with her. And my full siblings feel the same way.

So a friend of my sister was watching "Brothers and Sisters" with her. In the show, this group of adult siblings found out that they have a half-sister. Only one of the siblings wants to hang out and get to know her, while everyone else continues on like nothing happened. So my sister's friend was saying how that's messed up of them and if he found out he had a half sister, he would hang out with her. I would have probably said the same thing 6 years ago. So I was wondering if it was just wishful thinking, or if my sister's friend (and other people like you guys) would really go out of your way to get to know your half sibling.}
